Day 05 - Galilee: Katzrin, Caesarea Philippi, Tel Dan, Bethsaida

Today is day five and it was another full but amazing day that God provided for us.

Our first stop was at an ancient Rabbinic town called Katzrin which had an active olive press and a rebuilt home similar to that of Jesus' day.

After a bit of a drive to the Golan Heights, we stopped at Caesarea Philippi were Jesus took the disciples and asked the question ‘Who do people say that I am?’ The site is also where Jesus called Peter a rock and said that nothing would prevail over his church.

We then made our way to Tel Dan in the north. The interesting thing about this location is that this is not the allotted land that God gave to the tribe of Dan. So how did they get up here in the north and why? We learned that they were not satisfied where God put them. So, they moved north, and things did not go well for them. Are you willing to inquire of the Lord before moving from what he has given you?

One parent on our trip writes this of his experience from this day:

"As I thought about the day's stops, one placed stood out: Katzrin. At Katzrin, I was reminded of what true friends are. We discussed the story of Jesus healing the paralytic man. This man had friends that tore open the roof and lowered their friend down to be next to Jesus. His friends were bold enough and would do almost anything for their friend to be with Jesus. It makes me wonder if I would do this for my friends? I most likely would not have to tear open a roof, but how far would I go to have my friends be with Jesus? Probably not far enough and it’s time to get to work."
