Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
This morning we started day six with devotions by the shoreline of the Galile again and our devotions focused on the town of Bethsaida. It was the small town that Jesus called some of his disciples from. Yes, even from a small town like Bethsaida.
We then made our way to one of the Decapolis towns known as Beth Shean which is an impressive town to see. It’s so impressive that it makes us wonder how we can make sure we are not influenced by what happens there. How do we remain true to God when we already have everything we need?
Next, we stopped at a location known as Herod’s stream or Gideon’s Spring and we thought about God choosing less men then was needed for the battle. With God, anything is possible. Do you trust him to provide what is needed for the battle that is ahead of you?
Next, we headed to the top of Mount Carmel and thought about Elijah and the prophets of Baal. Elijah was a stunning man of God who gave everything he had.
We ended our time for the day at the seaport city known as Caesarea Maritima. This site is impressive and it was here that Paul spent time in prison for his faith.
One younger participant on our trip has this to share:
"First, we started out with Beth Sean which was super cool to see how the Romans lived in such luxury, and we thought that running water is a modern invention, when really it was created thousands of years ago. After that we went to Herod’s Stream or Gideon’s Spring and were in the same place or very close to where God chose his people to fight against their enemies. Then we travel to Mount Carmel, where we went up not even halfway, but were beat tired. And to think that people in the Bible like Elijah went up that mountain just to pray or to talk to a crowd about God, it must’ve been hard, but they still did it for their own reasons.
Finally we wrapped up in Caesarea Maritima we’re Herod’s main port was and it was amazing to see the aqueducts and how the Romans got freshwater by a salt sea and how they used it for luxurious things not even for drinking just decoration and swimming pools! It was amazing to see all these sites and see how everything just proves the Bible happened and how everything makes more sense and how the Bible is almost like a pop up book."
