Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
Today was Day 5 and we continued following John's letters to the churches in Revelation (in reverse). We started off in the ancient city of Sardis (Rev. 3:1-6). I continue to be amazed at how intimately Jesus addresses each church, while at the same time giving wisdom and commands for every one of his followers, including us. At Sardis, we started off in the temple to Artemis and then ended in the Jewish synagogue. Our next stop was Thyatira (Rev. 2:18-28). Pastor Brian shared with us the context surrounding the workers' guilds that provided people with work, but also required them to participate in idol worship and debauchery. A false teacher had infiltrated the church and encouraged followers of Jesus to participate in the workers' guilds. After lunch, our last location was Pergamum (Rev. 2:12-17) and it's such a massive ruin that we were not able to finish it and we'll go back tomorrow! We're discussing the different possibilities of what Jesus might have been referring to when he said "Satan's throne" could be. Stay tuned for more about that tomorrow!
