Where Jesus walked...

Shalom shalom! Today we started early and went all day throughout the Sea of Galilee. We spent the entire day learning about and experiencing the ministry of Jesus! We went several places, so here are a few highlights of the day...

We started the day on a boat ride on the Galilee where we spent some time in worship and we even danced as undignified as David did.

We traveled to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jeff read the Sermon on the Mount while we sat on the side of the hill, listening. What a visualization of what it must have been like when Jesus spoke those very words on that mountain.

Then onto Magdala, where our very own Tracy spoke about how we need to act simply like Mary Magdalene. She was healed, restored, and loved by Jesus; so she simply followed, served, and proclaimed His name. Tracy challenged us to do as Mary did: follow Jesus, serve Jesus, and proclaim the name of Jesus.

“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.” Luke 6:12 We then followed Jesus’s example and retreated to Mount Arbel—possibly the same mountain Jesus retreated to pray! We worshipped at the top of the mountain, then spent some time in solitude where we listened for God’s voice. This was a great time for reflection and rest during a busy trip that has been full of information. We enjoyed sharing with each other our stories of how God spoke to us on the mountain and agreed to be more intentional about retreating ‘to the mountain’ to listen and pray.

Last, but certainly not least, we went to the Jordan River where 19 of us were baptized!! Some were baptized for the first time, while others were rededicating their commitment to follow Christ. After each baptism, we all celebrated with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

It was a very full day, but meaningful as we got to experience Jesus in the places where He ministered.
