RESTORING EYES TO SEE.
What. A. Day. Our team did a wonderful job with a full day today! We began at the Attalia (Antalya) Harbor where Paul, John Mark, and Barnabas sailed out on Paul’s first missionary journey. It was the perfect place to sit and more fully understand who Paul was and how the Lord used him!
After a meaningful prayer time, we made our way to the Antalya Museum to see incredible artifacts taken from Perga (a city we would visit later). There, we studied Roman gods, goddesses, and the Pax Romana propaganda. This was an important time for our team to see the similarities of Rome to our own countries.
Then we ventured out for a long walk on a rugged second century Roman road—a road that the apostle Paul would have absolutely traveled on as he journeyed across Asia Minor to make disciple-makers and plant churches! If there was ever a perfect time, place, and circumstance for God to set in motion the fulfillment of His plans to redeem humanity, it was during the first century. Because of this revolutionary infrastructure in Roman roads, the message of the Gospel of Jesus could be spread like never before.
After a late lunch at a wonderful Turkish restaurant, we wrapped up the day at the astounding city of Perga where we studied “the good life” and identified the conflict between the gospel of the world and the Gospel of Jesus.
The entire team really is doing great! They’re eager to learn and contribute, caring for each other beautifully, and are an easy group to lead.
We just arrived at our hotel where we’ll have a refreshing rooftop dinner overlooking the city of Isparta before getting to bed. Please pray for continued health and eyes to see all the Lord has for them!
