Day 03 - Journey to Pisidia Antioch

On the third day of our Turkish adventure, we embarked on a journey filled with historical significance and spiritual reflection. Our destination was Pisidia Antioch, a site renowned for its biblical importance as the location where Paul the Apostle delivered his first sermon. This ancient city, nestled amidst the rugged landscapes of modern-day Turkey, provided us with a unique opportunity to walk in the footsteps of early Christian history.

Pisidia Antioch, once a bustling trade hub of Galatia, now offers a serene escape into the past. As we approached the site, the remnants of its former glory were evident in the scattered ruins that dot the landscape. The city's strategic position, which once facilitated its prosperity through trade, now offers a picturesque backdrop for visitors seeking to connect with its historical and spiritual legacy.

Our visit began with a guided tour through the archaeological remains, where we explored the remnants of ancient streets, the agora, and various public buildings that paint a vivid picture of life in Pisidia Antioch during its peak. Pastor Luke was standing in the approximate location where it is believed Paul delivered his sermon and shared the text and teaching with us. Reading Acts 13 in this very setting was a profound experience. The words of the scripture took on a new dimension, as we could visualize the scene, the people, and the impact of Paul's message in the context of its original delivery. It was fascinating to learn how the city's economic and social dynamics might have influenced the spread of Christianity in the region. The juxtaposition of ancient ruins against the backdrop of the city's historical importance offered a tangible connection to the past.

We took time to found quiet spots amidst the ruins to reads scripture and reflect on how everything in Acts has come to life.

Our journey to Pisidia Antioch was more than just a visit to an archaeological site; it was a pilgrimage that allowed us to explore our spiritual heritage and deepen our understanding of the early Christian community. As we left the city behind, we carried with us a renewed sense of connection to our faith's history and a deeper appreciation for the enduring power of its message.

As the sun set on Day 3 of our Turkish trip, we reflected on the profound experiences of the day. Pisidia Antioch. We finished out our day sitting in the thermal pools and getting ready for tomorrow.
