Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
After a long but exciting journey from the States, our group converged in Istanbul and then took the flight together to Amman, Jordan. It was a short night and we were up and at it this morning. After breakfast we gathered for our orientation to include; our ‘Mixer’, exercise that introduced the group members to each other. It was fun. We then loaded up and were off to Mt. Nebo.
What a great start to our adventure as we overlooked the plains of Moab where the children of Israel would cross over the Jordan river into the Promised Land. Our guide, Ronen Ben Moshe, helped the group understand the Biblical history of God’s promise. One that began with Abraham to inherit the land and become a blessing to all people.
We then opened the scriptures and studied Moses’ final encounter with God at Mt. Nebo in Deuteronomy 34. Moses finished his course at 120 years of age and was still going strong. We were challenged to consider how we want to finish our own course. And, as pilgrims from the west how we might consider our opportunity to share what we are learning here in the land of the Bible.
We visited a mosaics show room where the artisans are challenged with physical limitations. The mosaics are amazing and beautiful! After visiting a couple of Byzantine churches and having lunch, we began the trek southward to Petra. Once here at the Old Village Resort, we were treated to a wonderful Jordanian style meal. It’s going to be a restful night with a big day ahead tomorrow.
