Living Water

Day three started out a bit less physically intense than yesterday. Instead of wandering through the desert, we rode a Gondola up to Israel’s most popular national park: Masada. We learned about the many different King Herrod’s that have ruled over Israel, and how the once seemingly impenetrable stronghold was taken down by the Roman Empire. After a “relaxing” start to the day, it was time to get in some nice, long hikes in order to fully soak in the remainder of our time in the desert. We saw a real-life example of Living Water Jesus talks about in John 7:37-39, and how some of the Jewish people lived in ancient times.

The day ended with a few different options… our last hike, a very brutal one, became optional to our group. It was the last hike of the day, which led all the way to the top of the Judean wilderness. For those who participated in the hike, although hard – it became one of the most memorable moments we could have shared together. Some other memorable moments from today include helping one another face our fears, crossing the Jordan River, and getting our first glimpse of the Sea of Galilee. As our tour guide Ronan would say, “Hold your camels”… that story is yet to be told.
