Living Water

Day III began with devotions along the shore of the Dead Sea. As we left there and continued our second day in the Negev (desert) we talked about the importance of water, both to the people who live here as well as to the land itself. We journeyed to Ein Gedi where we saw David's waterfall, in the area where he hid from King Saul. Next we visited Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were found. Then we spent time in the Lower Jordan River area, specifically in the place where John the Baptist baptized Jesus.

Ein Gedi

En Gedi is the largest oasis along the western shore of the Dead Sea. The springs here have allowed nearly continuous inhabitation of the site since the Chalcolithic period. The area was allotted to the tribe of Judah, and was famous in the time of Solomon (Josh 15:62). Today the Israeli kibbutz of En Gedi sits along the southern bank of the Nahal Arugot.

All of us touched or got in the river! We drove through Jericho, and part of the West Bank on the way to our resting place for the night on the Sea of Galilee. All through the day we were challenged to let God be our "Mayim Chayim" our Living Water, to be more filled with Him, and less filled with stale, unquenchable water from the cistern (world). We are also to be that "Mayim Chayim" to the rest of the world.
Another amazing day in Israel!
