Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
Shalom, Shalom!
Day 4!
To fully appreciate the world of Jesus requires an understanding of culture, geography, language, architecture (etc. etc. etc.). In other words, it requires an incredible imagination to picture the world that Jesus saw.
And …
That’s why … we started the day by visiting a restored 1st century Galilean village. We dressed in the clothes of 1st century Jews, processed wheat exactly in the manner of 1st century Jews, studied in the recreated house of a 1st century Jew, and even learned how to use the “outdoor shovel” that a 1st century Jew would have to use. (What’s the shovel? You’ll have to ask one of your friends on the trip).
From there we explored the city of Dan – and learned a powerful lesson of the consequences of a faith that chooses the path of compromise.
After that, we journeyed with Jesus and the disciples to Caesarea Philippi (read Matthew 16 and Mark 8) where we saw how Jesus commissioned his church to be a force of healing and life and love in a world of compromise.
Finally, we explored Mt. Hermon and the story of the transfiguration.
We also …
Laughed a lot.
Baked flatbread.
Sometimes fell asleep on the bus ride.
Ate way too much ice cream at the hotel.
Swam in the Sea of Galilee.
Saw the “Mighty Jordan River.”
Sang on the bus.
Ate four hotdogs in one bun.
And celebrated Shabbat.
GRACE&PEACE … and … Shabbat Shalom!
