Day 04 - Shepherd's Cave, Herodium, Bethlehem
At a cave on the way to the Herodium, we gathered to discuss the passionate hospitality of people in the area. The possibility of the birth of Jesus in a similar place in the shadow of Herod’s palace made us consider the commercialization of the real Christmas story. As we search for spiritual rebirth, the question for us is where our rebirth should occur.
We then toured the ancient ruins of the Herodium, the grand palace of Herod the Great, overlooking Jerusalem. We were asked to contemplate the stark contrast between the two kings.
