Day 03 - Judah Wilderness: Ein Gedi & Qumran

Good evening! We started our day off hiking through midbar desert (desert you can survive in). We were perplexed by the stream of water flowing down the cliff we hiked along. Our hike ended at the Ein Gedi waterfall, another place where David hid from Saul. After a awesome lunch of shwarma chicken sandwiches, we went to Qumran, the place where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947. There were complete manuscripts for Isaiah, Psalm and Deuteronomy - the three books Jesus quoted from the most. The Dead Sea Scrolls were copied by the Essenes, a religious group devoted to purity of the scriptures, who worked at Qumran. We went into their scribe room, where they would go through a rigorous process to make copies of the scriptures and, then, climbed Mount Qumran. We finished our night at our hotel on the Sea of Galilee.
