Petra

We made it to Amman last night. Our flights were long, but well worth the anticipated arrival. After dinner, showers and much sleep we were eager to wake up this morning. God's Grace and Mercy is so sufficient. We all had breakfast and fellowship together and next we were off to the beautiful city of Petra. Lunch was enjoyed at a local restaurant by the name of "My Momma's Recipe".

As we traveled via the bus ride, Dr. Greer and Muhannad enlightened us on both historical and cultural contexts regarding Petra. We enjoyed our impromptu lectures on the Old and New Testaments given by Dr. Greer! He also verbally quizzed us on our map which was turned in and graded prior to leaving the United States. Dr. Greer reminded us about the Late Bronze Age- 1500-1200 BC and the Collapse of Kingdoms and also spoke of the reign of King Mesha of Moab. Words can never describe the beauty of Petra. It’s obvious that God created this moment just for us. Our guide, Muhannad shared a wealth of cultural and personal knowledge. He guided us through canyons, caves, ruins and down historical roads!

Once we completed our exploration of the city, we rode donkeys out of the city of Petra. This was an amazing experience. Next, we headed to the Wadi Rum Sun City Camp for our overnight stay. We were able to get settled in our rooms, followed by a marvelous dinner. We ended the night by a warm camp fire, with Dr. Greer sharing Ancient Biblical stories about Mesopotamia. The desert is cold, but the sky is full of beautiful stars. What an amazing reminder that God is with, watching and hovering over us!
