Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
Let me start off by saying…WHAT A DAY!!!!
We gathered early at the hotel and had breakfast together and then went down to the beach where Pastor Brian led the team in our morning devotion time. We then shared God stories, and prayed.
After that we headed to Masada. Masada means “Fortress” and sits roughly 1300ft high. We were able to take a cable car up to the top. Ronan, our guide taught us about Masada from a few locations around the fortress. We learned about Herod The Great, and how he built three palaces there. We learned how the Jewish people see the site as a symbol for freedom and heroism. After a few hours, we walked down the back side of Masada. This was a big task and everyone on our team did such a good job.
The summit of Masada sits 190 feet (59 m) above sea level and about 1,500 feet (470 m) above the level of the Dead Sea. The mountain itself is 1950 feet (610 m) long, 650 feet (200 m) wide, 4,250 feet (1330 m) in circumference, and encompasses 23 acres. The “Snake Path” climbs 900 feet (280 m) in elevation. From the west, the difference in height is 225 feet (70 m).
After leaving Masada, we ventured a few miles away for a big surprise. Our team got the opportunity to ride camels in the desert. After that we had lunch, and then headed to a Bedouin tent, where Pastor Brian and Ronan taught us about how the Bedouins, for centuries have been known for their hospitality. They served us bread, tea and coffee made right in the tent. We talked about how hospitality opens the door for community.
After this we headed to Tel Arad. Pastor Brian showed us how God is the same, from the Old Testament to the New Testament. How He has been restoring all things from the very beginning. This was really such a powerful time for the team.
We got back to the hotel a little earlier than the previous days so we could spend some time floating in the Dead Sea. After a little down time, our team had dinner together and called it a night.
