Live, Learn, and Keep!

What a day! We started off the day bright and early in Bet Shemesh. We sat on a hillside and read through Samson's story. What a neat experience to read the Bible in the place where the events you're reading about happened.

Beth Shemesh

A border city between Judah and Dan, Beth Shemesh was given to the Levites. Beth Shemesh was the most important Israelite city in the Sorek Valley as it watched both east-west traffic through the Sorek Valley and north-south traffic along the “Diagonal Route.” Recent excavations have shown a thriving city here from the Middle Bronze Age through the Iron II period.

From there we moved on to Tel Azekah, in the Elah valley. We sat underneath some trees and read about David and Goliath. We were encouraged to "Throw our Rock." God has given us gifts and abilities to "Light it up in Jesus' name"

Tel Azekah and Elah Valley

The Brook Elah is famous for the five stones it contributed to the young slinger, David. Some surmise that David chose five stones instead of the one needed in case he needed to face Goliath’s four brothers.

After lunch we spent some time under an olive tree reading about Paul and being reminded that we are to bear much fruit.

We wrapped the day in Lachish, first walking through a vineyard and then walking up to the top of the tel. We read through Hezekiah's story.

Big takeaways for the day:
1. We need to live so that the whole world knows there is a God.
2. We need to learn to spread it out before the Lord.
3. We need to keep in mind that the Lord hasn't changed.

Be praying that God continue to speak to us through his Word in the coming days. What an incredible opportunity it is to be here.
