Day Four: What’s Your Source?

Today we journeyed from the Dead Sea to the Sea of Galilee. That is a lot of ground to cover, with countless stories and scriptures rising from each site. Yet if we boil it down to one truth, it is this: What is your source?

At Masada, we were reminded that God alone is our refuge. “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge” (Psalm 18:2). Nations rise and fall, fortresses crumble, but the refuge of God remains.

At En Gedi, springs of living water pour out of the desert cliffs, teaching us again that Christ is the true source of life. How often we turn instead to pseudo-sources, things that promise but always underdeliver.

At Qumran, we reflected on the community of scribes who gave their lives to the preservation of God’s Word. They remind us that Scripture is not just a text but a living source, shaping a people together. We are called to be people of the Book, rooted in God’s Word, learning in community, living by His Spirit.

Ultimately, every site points to this: our source comes from God. When we are rooted in Him, grounded in Scripture, and strengthened by community, our roots grow deep. No matter the dryness of our circumstances, no matter the winds that beat against us, we stand firm, because God is our source.
