Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
Today we began with a drive to Oberammergau. This is the site of a very famous passion play that began as a penance for the plague in 1633. They have had continuous performances every decade since then except for 1940 (during WW II) and 2020 (during Covid). We had some time for shopping and lunch in this quaint little town before heading to Neuschwanstein Castle for a tour this afternoon, think Sleeping Beauty at Disney.
Today while riding on the bus Dan gave some short talks on how the Reformation got to America and on Christianity & the Arts. The Arts (both musical and visual) were used to teach Christianity to folks who could not read. Today was a huge contrast between beautiful things that were made by man and absolutely gorgeous things that were made by God. We have marveled many times over the course of our trip at man-made creations in the various churches, castles and other sites we have visited, but we must not to forget to see the real beauty that is available for us to view every day in the many mountains, valleys, sunrises/sunsets and landscapes created for us by God. We saw many of these God made creations today as we traveled the Bavarian countryside.
Tonight we had our final meal together as a group at the Munich Hofbräuhaus before saying our goodbyes. Some of us are headed back to the United States tomorrow, while others are continuing their adventures in various other places before heading home.
Today we walked 8 miles, for a total of 47.1 miles for the trip.
It has been fun documenting our journey for you during the past days. I hope that you have enjoyed following along as we learned about Marty and the Reformation. Safe travels to everyone on our trip and I hope to enjoy another adventure with you in the future.
