Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
Day 2 began with an early morning devotion by the pool at the Pyramids Hotel. We fielded impressions from the group from our first day and then prayed for Egypt based on Isaiah’s prophecy concerning Egypt in chapter 19 of his prophecies.
Our first stop of the morning was the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square in Cairo. The museum houses the great finds of Egyptian archaeology from the last century, including some of the treasures of King Tut’s tomb, discovered in 1922. His golden death mask, pure gold coffin, and his thrones were on display. We also saw the Narmer Palette, which dates to the pre-dynastic era and was a celebratory shield of sorts of the unification of Upoer and Lower Egypt under Narmer, Egypt’s first king. We ended our time there with a look at the Merneptah Stele. Dated to 1208 B.C., the stele contains the oldest extra-biblical reference to Israel found to date.
Our next stop was the New Museum of Egyptian Civilization. This Museum houses 19 mummies of the New Kindom-era kings and queens of Egypt. At least one of these guys had to know Moses and was the pharaoh of the Exodus. Who could it have been? The Museum also displays a chronological history of Egypt from earliest times to the Muslim era.
We then enjoyed a delicious, traditional, Egyptian lunch at the Ahmar Restaurant before heading to the airport for our flight to Luxor, where we checked into the Nile Palace Hotel for the night.
