Day 09 - Temple Mount, Hezekiah's Tunnel, Ramparts, Southern Steps

THE HOUSE!

Our group started this final and big day at the Temple Mount, where we were able to learn the history of Mount Moriah. A key takeaway from this spot was to see how God has looked to dwell with his people along our journey with him. When the Israelites dwelled in tents, he made his home in the Tabernacle. When they were nomadic, His dwelling place was in the Ark, and when they settled into homes in the land, the Lord’s presence was in the temple. Now God dwells among his people with the Holy Spirit, so while we can learn about the place where he formerly dwelled, he is now among us!

We next ventured through Hezekiah’s Tunnel, and saw what it took for the city of Jerusalem to have access to fresh water during a siege. We finished the active part of our day walking along the city’s ramparts and praying for peace for Jerusalem and all those who live here. Our trip wrapped up on the Southern Steps, where we recounted the major lessons of our journey and discussed how to pay forward what we have learned and make disciples as we go!
