Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
I’ve realized over the last two days that no amount of preparation can get you ready for the holy land. On the way to the hotel last night it hit me, I’m in the place where Jesus lived, did his ministry, and died! Woah!
So today, day one, we started out our journey at Yad Hashmonah. This is the place the ark of the covenant stayed for 20 years after the Israelites got it back from Philistine. God’s presence dwelt here for 20 years! One of the themes for the day was discussing how we, as imperfect people can live in the presence of God. The other theme for the day was living water. I think these two themes go hand in hand. We can’t live in God’s presence without living water. We can’t be close to God without being close to Jesus. And what better way to learn, grow, and become closer to the God we love than in the land His son lived and taught.

The Biblical Village on the slope of Yad HaShmonah provides visitors with hands-on exposure to the manners and customs of the ancient Israelites. The garden includes olive trees and press, grape vines and several winepresses, wheat field and threshing floor, watchtower, Bedouin tents, ancient Galilean synagogue, and a burial cave. All have been constructed according to the best archaeological knowledge of ancient life.
