Day 04 - Eisenach/Coburg/Nuremberg: Luther House, St. George Church, Coburg Castle, Nuremberg

This morning Pastor Rodney led us in a devotion on prayer through Matthew 6:9-13. We talked a lot about Martin Luther's prayer life, how his intimacy with the Lord fueled so much of his boldness and endurance in ministry, and how a devoted prayer life can fuel ours as well. Then we headed back out into day 2 of our time in Eisenach. We went and visited the home Martin Luther stayed in from ages 14-17 while he was in school. We talked quite a bit about the family friends that hosted Luther during those formative years, as well as the many friends that shaped Martin Luther throughout his life. We then went across the street to St. George's Church. Martin Luther had preacher here at one point in his life. However, the church was also well known for being the church where Johann Sebastian Bach was baptized.

We then drive to Coburg, where we visited the very impressive Veste Castle. Martin Luther had stayed here for about 6 months when the Augsburg Diet was taking place down the road (a site we'll visit tomorrow!). Tonight, we take a little respite in Nuremberg (in Bavaria) before we launch out early in the morning for one of the more significant sites in all the Reformation!
