Day 10 - Greece: Corinth, Giannikos Winery, Parthenon

Our last tour day of the 2022 Turkey/Greece trip did not disappoint!! We started strong with a word from Tyler Smith. She read Pslam 96 for us and reminded us that the history we’ve seen & beauty we’ve witnessed all reflect the glory and majesty of the Lord. She encouraged us to take this awe and worship of Him with us as we’re soon to return back home.

Then we went on our way to tour Athens! Starting at the beautiful Pantheon we got to learn about Spartans & conquerors & and life in early Greece. From there we walked down to Mars Hill where Shea taught us that this was where Paul’s sermon in Acts 17:22-31 was delivered to some philosophers of Greece. As we sat on Mars Hill surrounded by temples to pagan gods we got to hear Paul’s words declaring that God is the one true God, as well as his encouragements & guidance to the men he spoke with.

Next, we followed the footsteps of Paul and headed from Athens to Corinth. In Corinth, we got to tour the ancient city, visit the Corinth canal (WOW) and stop by a local winery. Here, Brady walked us through the events & culture of Corinthian history that shaped the books of Corinthians. He also shared with us how Paul’s time in Corinth shaped Acts 18. Lastly, he shared a few lessons we can take from the Corinthians such as: living distinctively for Jesus, the nature of church & leadership in joy/difficulties, and the sufficiency of Gods word to guide and lead His people.

As we close our last tour day I think it’s safe to say that we’re all leaving with greater knowledge, deeper friendships, affections for Jesus stirred and feet quickened for His kingdom. Praise be to Jesus!!
