Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
Today marks our fourth day experiencing the holy land. What a sacred time of having the Bible come to life. The foundation of our faith lies here.
Today we woke up to the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus walked on water. My favorite experience today was taking a wooden boat where we worshipped and danced in rejoicing. It was a reminder of the need to trust our Lord and not doubt when life looks shaky and the storm arises. For we need only to stay focused on him and we will not sink.
We then stopped at Mount Arbel where Jesus went to pray alone. It is a beautiful overlook of pastures and the Sea of Galilee. We then spent our own time alone in quiet reflection.
Mount Arbel (Hebrew: הר ארבל, Har Arbel) is a mountain in The Lower Galilee near Tiberias in Israel, with high cliffs, views of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, trails to a cave-fortress, and ruins of an ancient synagogue. Mt. Arbel sits across from Mount Nitai; their cliffs were created as a result of the Jordan Rift Valley and the geological faults that produced the valleys.
Our next stop was Magdela where Mary of Magdeline was from, the synagogue from the first century was recently discovered. They are still digging and restoring this site.
We then headed to Tabgha where Jesus fed the five thousand and where he asked Peter, “Do you love me?” three times. A place where he performed great miracles and questioned his disciple’s loyalty.
Our next stop was Capernaum. In this region is where Jesus performed 90% of his miracles.
Jesus made Capernaum his home during the years of his ministry: “Leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum” (Matt 4:13).
Peter, Andrew, James and John were fishermen living in the village. Matthew the tax collector also dwelt here.
Capernaum is one of the three cities cursed by Jesus for its lack of faith.
We ended our day at the Mount of Beatitudes.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."Matthew 5:3-1
