Day 08 - Jerusalem : Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, Pool of Bethesda, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Garden Tomb

Today was our last full day in Jerusalem and it was a full day indeed. We started our time at Saint Anne’s church where we sang the benediction together which says, ‘Praise God from whom all blessings flow.’ After this stop we then moved on to see the Pool of Bethesda which is right outside of the church. We were challenged here to think of Jesus healing the crippled man without using the healing pool.

Our next stop was the Garden of Gethsemane and it was here that we thought about Jesus weeping over the city since they missed who he truly was. It was a hard spot to sit at, but we are thankful for what Jesus gave.

Next, we went to the top of the Mount of Olives and looked over the whole city. We were reminded of David also spending time on top of Mount Moriah and how he purchased this land.

We then made our way to one spot known to be the Garden Tomb. This stop allowed us to partake in communion together. We then viewed an empty tomb and thought of Jesus who was victorious over the grave.

After this, we made our way to Nazareth and visited our friend Jonnny and his family at his souvenir shop. We also were able to visit one of Herod’s Palace’s called the Herodium.

After visiting the Herodium in Nazareth, we made our way back to the hotel to prepare to leave at 2:30 AM for flight out of Tel Aviv.

We have had an amazing time here in Israel at seeing where God‘s word took place. Our prayer is that once home, we share what we have been given by the Lord. Thank you for following along and don’t forget to join a GTI trip in the near future.
