Day 02 - Southern Coast: Aspendos, Perga

The theatre at Aspendos was quite remarkable.  What struck me were the acoustics and how spoken word could be heard all the way at the top. We were touring the theatre at the same time as a Korean church group. After our study moment, their group began to sing in Korean “How great thou art” and I could not help myself, I had to join in. I sang in English as they sang in Korean. Afterwards we were all smiles and hugs. I am left with the universal conclusion that the Gospel is the universal language.

“Then SINGS my soul, my savior God to thee…”

Today’s trip through Perga was remarkable. Water was the source of life, hence the fountains that were the main feature of the city as you enter each gate. I was left with the thought that the impetus for moving to a city water, security would be a main reason. Walking along the steps of the main road, it was fascinating to consider that my footsteps were simply one set of millions that had made their way down the road of time.
