Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
What at absolutely amazing day we had visiting a number of sites around the Sea of Galilee. Today’s focus was squarely on our Lord and Savior. We toured the northwest area of the sea and stood in the places that exemplified both His humanity and deity.
Capernaum, Jesus’ chosen home town where he taught and did a number of miracles, but eventually cursed along with Korazim and Bethsaida for their unrepentance.
Mount of Beatitude’s where Jesus delivered the sermon on the mount, providing words of blessing, instruction and the Lord’s Prayer.
Tobgha on the shore of the Sea of Galilee where Jesus appeared for the 3rd time and led the fishermen to catch a multitude of fish. This was also where Jesus restored Peter by asking three times “do you love me?”
Magdala the oldest discovered synagogue dating back to the 1st century where it’s probable that Jesus and/or the disciples taught.
Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee where Jesus both walked on water and commanded the sea to “be still”.
In addition to the biblical history we also visited two other sites.
Mount Arbel which was a tragic scene of Roman brutality, but also a beautiful overlook of the Sea and towns nearby.
Observed the 2000 year old ‘Ancient Boat of Galilee’ which was an amazing archeological discovery in 1986.
Today was a full day of seeing and experiencing history. We got a view into the humanity of Jesus by standing on the land he traversed by foot, seeing where he called home and likely laid his head for rest. We also got close to the deity of Jesus being in the land where he performed a number of miracles.
There is so much I could write about today, but it has already been written for us by authors known as Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
