Day 04 - Temple of Artemis, St. John's Basilica, Evening Cruise on the Aegean
Today we started out visiting the ruins of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. Based on the single standing column, you would never guess that it had once been one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Nearby was St. John's Basilica, a church built in the 6th century over the grave of John the Apostle who was the only one of the 12 disciples to die a natural death. How fascinating to study his life in the setting where he ministered!
We made a fun stop this afternoon at a specialty shop which carried Turkish delicacies such as Turkish delight, teas, nuts, dried fruit, souvenirs, etc.
The highlight of the day was our evening cruise on the Aegean Sea! Fortunately the sun was out and we could relax and enjoy the beautiful views!
The sunset was so peaceful to see from our hotel. Goodnight!
