Here am I Lord, send me.

As we explored Galilee today, we learned about Jesus in a way that cannot be done by just reading - we learned by visiting and experiencing the places where Jesus did his ministry: Korazin and Tabgha and Magdala and Capernaum. Capernaum was Jesus’ hometown, and within visual range near Sea of Galilee is where He called His disciples. One can’t help but pray ‘Here am I Lord, send me.’

Our day also included hiking Mt. Arbel. What a sight! The view overlooking the Sea of Galilee can only be described as peaceful serenity. As we prayed individually, nothing was heard but a soft breeze and the presence of God was felt heavily.

Here’s what one of our fellow sojourners Tracy had to say about Mt. Arbel: “We worshipped on the top of this mountain. The very mountain where Jesus prayed before walking on the water. He was on the mountain when the storm came, watching over his disciples. Helped me to visualize that he is watching over me, coming to my rescue during my storms. During my quiet time I sat in the cleft of a rock and wept. Glory, hallelujah- nothing can take me from his hands even in the midst of the storm.”

The sprinkles on the cupcake was ending the day with a beautiful Shabbat dinner. And after dinner, karaoke!

Mount Arbel

Mount Arbel (Hebrew: הר ארבל‎‎, Har Arbel) is a mountain in The Lower Galilee near Tiberias in Israel, with high cliffs, views of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, trails to a cave-fortress, and ruins of an ancient synagogue. Mt. Arbel sits across from Mount Nitai; their cliffs were created as a result of the Jordan Rift Valley and the geological faults that produced the valleys.
