Day 07 - Jerusalem: Temple Mount, Western Wall, Rabbinic Tunnels, Herodium, Bethlehem, Johnny's (shopping)

We began our day with a devotion from Pastor Craig.  He encouraged us with Deuteronomy 5 to “Remember and don’t forget”. 

We then headed to the City of David where we had several amazing experiences walking the Text of God’s Word. 

We experienced Jesus through stones, streams, and steps. We saw a pile of stones that from when the Temple was destroyed by the Romans, as Jesus foretold. We got to walk the the 1,750 feet of Hezekiah’s Tunnel in a stream of water, reminding us that Living Water is necessary.  We walked the steps that Jesus would have walked up to the Temple, and that Peter most likely gave his Pentecost sermon where 3,000 decided to be baptized and follow Jesus. 

We ended our day with a somber tour of the Holocaust Remembrance Center.  We saw the worst humans can do to each other and what sin can ultimately lead to.  What a stark contrast to the last line of the Jesus Shema we have said every morning, “and love your neighbor as yourself.” We must remember and not forget.
