We Have Arrived

Four hours into our first flight and just passed over Detroit, USA on our way from Vancouver, BC to Newark, NJ. Only 54 minutes to go my map screen tells me and then we wait for another six hours before we board our next flight that will wing us over to the promised land. (That has the makings of a hymn maybe? – Flying over to the promised land…)

Let me introduce myself. I am Mark and I will be the “official blogger” for this tour and while I do not profess to be any sort of literary genius, I do like to see the humor in life and thoroughly enjoy travel and new experiences so hopefully some of that will shine through in my writing. I am travelling with my lovely wife Karen and this is her second visit to Israel. This will be my fourth pilgrimage, and that is how I see these visits. To me Israel really feels like coming home. My soul feels at peace here and it is wonderful to walk in the very steps of all the Bible characters we learned of in Sunday School

So, today, as we join with the other members of our tour, who are all likely journeying as we are right now, in anticipation of adventure, spiritual renewal and maybe a fresh insight from God as we travel through His land. We pray for safety, for our hearts to be filled and that our tour leaders will have the strength and perseverance for what they have signed up for!
Over the next 8 days I will be adding pictures and video, that I hope will give you a taste of our adventure and just maybe, whet your appetite to visit Israel yourselves. I will be interviewing fellow tour travellers and getting their insights on the day and how they are being impacted.

Update – we all arrived safely in Tel Aviv and after a few anxious moments regarding missing luggage, we finally made it out to the bus!
During our coach ride and a few words regarding our day tomorrow from our tour guide Dr. Tom Brimmer, and our leaders, Dr. Dennis Frey and Dr. Noel Sanderson, we arrived at the Dan Panorama Hotel to a sumptuous dinner, (amazing deserts, which are all calorie free I am told if you are on vacation), and then off to bed.

Thank you Lord for bringing us all here safely and we are excited for what you will show us tomorrow.
