Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
After our breakfast, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, we walked from our hotel in Antalya down to the port where Paul came in on his first missionary journey to spread the gospel to the Gentiles. Pastor Marty read to us Paul's conversion story and reminded us that for any of us God will show up when least expected and most likely in an unexpected way and that we could be asking God to show himself to us throughout this journey.
We saw some interesting pavement made from a mosaic of small limestones, a mosque for fishermen, and Hadrian's wall, containing several layers spanning many years from 300 BC to 1600 AD.
The sites we will be seeing will have many reproductions of statues, the originals having been taken to a museum that we toured late morning.
Several of the group tried interesting beverages for lunch like beet juice (very salty) and ayran, a cold, traditional yogurt-based salty drink.
The afternoon was spent driving out to a portion of one of the ancient Roman roads, paved with stones We walked gradually uphill for about 20 minutes. Some of the stones have indentations from repeated wagon cart wheels driven over the centuries. Before we turned around and came back pastor Marty explained to us the gospel of salvation from various verses found in the book of Romans - aptly called "The Romans Road."
Last activity of the day - a dip in the Mediterranean, right outside our hotel - some of the guys went all the way in. Most of the ladies just dipped to their ankles!
