Day 01 - Attalia, Aspendos, Perga

Day 1 has been INCREDIBLE!

Our first location was just a short walk from our hotel in Antayla. It was the Harbor of Attalia. Paul would have come through this harbor or a harbor like it on his first missionary journey. Here we learned a lot about Paul - that he was a Roman, a Hebrew, a Pharisee and a Christian. Next, we went to the Antalya Museum to see dozens of Roman statues portraying both Roman emperors, gods and goddesses. Our last stop before lunch was Perga, an ancient Roman city. Perga had everything: entertainment, education, shopping, sport, etc. We talked about how the disciples were challenged with bringing a gospel of peace to a place that already had everything a person could ever want - just not eternal life. After lunch, we stopped at a complete Roman theater in Aspendos. We discussed how the Roman government used theater to promote their propaganda - drawing several parallels to our own culture. That was our last stop of the day before arriving at our hotel in Sparta. We can't wait to see what the Lord has for tomorrow!
