The Passion week of Christ.

posted on Friday March 13 2020 at 12:00 am UTC

We began our day today on the Mount of Olives looking at the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Jesus expresses his soveringty over even the animals and fulfills two passages in Ezekiel. Coming into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives and riding the colt of a donkey. They praised Him with palm...

Jerusalem

Happy Wednesday! Today was our first day touring Jerusalem! Woohoo! We arrived in the beautiful city last night after a day journeying here. Jerusalem is much different than the sites we have seen the past several days. It is quite a busy city and there is much to see! Our first stop this morning...

Earthly Security is Illusory

Today was a transitionary day for the Forge, but that did not lessen the impact that God’s words would have on us. We made the journey from the Sea of Galilee down to Jerusalem, making various stops along the way. Our first stop was at Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth. Jared discussed the importance...

Real faith and real opportunities

The Bible is not just full of characters but of people. “Being in the text” has opened my eyes that these characters we grew up reading about were real life human beings. They laughed, worked, cried, smiled, had anxiety, all like we do. The places and people we read about are real. They had...

We have a gracious Father who listens to our every prayer.

What does it look like to pray? The day started on Mt. Arbel, where we learned what it looks like to pray. Jesus would go off to “The mountain” to pray. He would constantly seek His Heavenly Father for His every need, and the Father would provide. With Christ’s example we can boldly...

What a day. What a marvelously-convicting day full of God’s glory and overwhelming love for us! I have no idea how to compile it all into a brief blog post but, here is my attempt to give you just a glimpse into the picture of God’s living and breathing word that is continuing to be...

Be careful little eyes

posted on Saturday March 07 2020 at 1:00 am UTC

There is an old children’s song that goes “oh be careful little eyes what you see...” The point of the song is to remind us that we should guard every part of our lives. Little did I know how that song would become applicable on this trip. We’ve learned a ton about faith and obedience....

Can we trust our sight?

We started the day the same way we ended the last: the Dead Sea. It’s a beautiful place, really just more beautiful than anything I’ve ever seen. I’ve heard so much about the Dead Sea over the years, but I don’t know exactly what I was expecting. It’s right between two mountain...

God not only provided for them, but he also dwelt with them.

Today was definitely an eye opener of how much God loves us and cares for us. I had the opportunity to hike and study in the Makhtesh Ramon, which is the wilderness of Zin where God’s chosen people, Israel, wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. Just to give you a visual, the land was not...

What do you see?

I remember back in elementary school when all my friends got glasses. I mean, almost every single person...except for me. I was bummed to say the least. I was jealous of the effortless accessory and the added aura of intelligence the simple addition of glasses gave to the lucky person that wore them....

We made it to Israel!!

We landed in Tel Aviv around 9:45pm! Our travel day went very smoothly. Our flights were on time, none of our luggage got lost, and we just arrived safely at our hotel, just outside of Jerusalem. We are thankful to the Lord and are very excited to see what He has in store for us in the days to come....
