Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
What a memorable day. So far this week we have gone from being invisible in our work department, to being accepted, and then today, fully embraced. Our Israeli department members have actually asked us to slow down enough so that we will have enough work in their department and be able to stay for the duration. And while walking down the hall someone saw our name tag and said, "Oh, Friends of Israel! Good!" Such a warm and welcoming people.
Today, Thursday, is the end of the normal work week so it is a bit like the Fridays in America. People looking forward to two days off and celebrating with food. As soon as we got to our department this morning we were treated to tea, cheesecake, and cookies. Then at 10:00 another department invited us over for Shahkshuka, followed up with olives and soda back in our department.
Tonight as I write this I have just finished the tour of Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial to the millions of men, women, and children who died because of Hitler. An amazing memorial to visit even though it is difficult. I pray the world never forgets and is ready if or when another dictator tries to implement the same atrocities. Think about it. What would you do? Would you be willing to risk your own life for that of another? I pray we all would.
This trip has been everything I had hoped for and so much more.
God Bless,
Gerri McIntyre
