Exploration

We met for breakfast on the second day at the Dan Hotel in Jerusalem. Incredible food from the local culture!
After devotions en route to our first stop in the old city of Jerusalem, we viewed a short movie on the history of the City of David and Hezekiah's tunnel.

Afterward, those of us up to the adventure of exploring the tunnel ventured underground. It was a fun challenge navigating tunnels of shin deep water, an often low head clearance and shoulder width walls only illuminated with each persons small flashlights. It transported us back in time when the workers constructed this lengthy tunnel. We left amazed at the amount of man power that it took to carve thru the dense stone.

After grabbing a quick bite of kebab for lunch we set off on foot to the western wall (previously called the Wailing Wall). It was very moving to visit such a sacred location.

After that we headed back to the bus via the old city marketplace. We couldn't help but marvel at the hustle and bustle of these tiny shops on the narrow stone block walkways. George, always inspiring as he ministered on relevant passages, was instinctively able to adjust our agenda based on a much needed morning shower.

As we left the city of Jerusalem and entered the Judah Wilderness we witnessed a giant double rainbow. Our drive continued along the coastal road with beautiful views of the Dead Sea and tall mountain sides. It wasn't soon after that we arrived at our hotel overlooking the Dead Sea, where a relaxing swim awaited us.
