Susan Taught Me The Swim

To get the full impact of this story, you need to know that I am a middle-aged, Awkward, Heavy Geek. You would bet money I could not enjoy a trip that included hiking. I would have joined you in that bet myself. so why I am growing and loving this trip to Gods country so much? The genuine Christian love shown to me by the people of Rocky Peak.

Here is only one of the many examples I could bring up to illustrate this point. We are on a boat sailing the Galilee, Pastor Mike just finished a great lesson about the feeding of the 5,000. Then it came, words I dreaded hearing. Ronan announced " Now we Dance". Dance !!! I haven't danced in over 30 years!! I am about to take a bigger fall then when I dismounted the Camel.(ask Tim for the video)First it was a group thing, I could hide my clumsiness in the crowd. Then, Horror of horrors, they wanted us to dance in the center of the circle with partners yet, Oy Vey!!! I thought to myself "it will be ok, no one is going want to dance with me anyway" I had not counted on the everyday Christian kindness of my fellow tourists. Jaime and Rose both helped me break my glaciers of ice. Susan taught me "The Swim" I looked Ridiculous but it was fun. Finally Silvana,with her fun loving nature taught me about gracefully cutting a rug.

I know this is a little thing to most,but to me it is the kind of daily goodness that makes fine Christian character. Pastor Mike has strengthened my faith,but the Rocky Peak congregation has solidified my Christian resolve. thank you Jesus, this has truly been the trip of a lifetime.
