Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
Hey everyone! Dre here with update numero uno…
After almost twenty hours of travel on two planes and a bud, WE MADE IT TO ISRAEL! Sure, we’re a little sleepy, but even with heavy eyes there is such an excitement amongst the group for the adventure we’re about to embark on.
One thing that has always impacted my reading of Scripture has been reflecting on the truth that the events in the Bible didn’t take place in some far off mythical land such as a Narnia or Neverland, but rather the Bible took place in the very world we live in. Jesus Himself broke into time and space in a huge way when He walked the earth, and now we have the opportunity to follow those literal footsteps as well as experience many other actual locations of where Scripture unfolded.
In preparation for the site’s we’ll be visiting on our first full day, Mike gave us several passages from the Old Testament to read on the plane ride. Tomorrow, one of our stops will be the very valley where David faced Goliath. In reading that account, I kept coming back to God’s powerful words to Samuel, “…The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Sam. 16:7)
