Shalom from Jerusalem.

Greetings everyone! Shalom from Jerusalem.

Today we left the region of Galilee and made our way to Zion. But not before making a few quick stops of course.

First, we went to the Mediterranean Sea to the ancient city of Caesarea. This is the location of the place where Paul was held before he was taken to Rome, and where he made his defense in front of King Agrippa and Festus as recorded in Acts 26. We stood in the theater where Paul made his famous speech! I’m a fan of ancient Roman and Greek cities, so I already thought that Caesarea was a spectacular cite to behold, but to think of this city as being the place where Paul not only boldly proclaimed the gospel, but the place where his ministry left the Jewish region and began to spread to the epicenter of the known world at that time—whoa. Also, it is a beautiful place to have a city. Right on the coast of the Mediterranean, Caesarea was used as a major port city during the time of King Herod. The crystal clear blue water dances on beaches of light pink and cream colored shells and the ruins of white marble and lime stone sparkle in the sunlight. Stunning. Breath taking. Loved it.

Next, we traveled to Bethlehem. Bethlehem is the opposite of Caesarea. The city is under control of the Palestinians, so we actually had to bring our passports to cross over into the region. So, technically for about 3 hours we weren’t in Israel. We went to the Church of the Nativity, which is believed to be the birth site of Jesus. This church is built on tope of a cave that houses the supposed physical spot of his birth. The church is shared by three different sects of Catholicism, and each one has their spot that they think is closest to the holy and sacred place. Before we left, we stopped at an olive wood souvenir shop called “Johnny’s”owned by Christians living in the city. So get ready family members—olive wood trinkets are coming your way.

Finally we arrived at our hotel in Jerusalem! We have a few days of touring in the city before we head back home. I’m sad that our journey is coming to an end, but I look forward to sharing our stories and experiences in more detail once we return.

On another note, due to some sickness, myself and our photographer have gotten a little behind on posting pictures and videos. But we promise some are coming soon. We have lots to show you. Continue to keep us in your prayers as we finish our tour and get ready to come home. And please pray that no one else gets sick.

See you all in a few days!
