Help support our friends in Israel in their time of need.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled,”- Matthew 5:6
After having a good breakfast, our ever dependable bus driver took us to a wooden Galilean boat, named “Matthew.” We boarded and went sailing – a most beautiful sight! We had our devotions on the boat, beginning with everyone saying Deut. 6:4-5, followed by a prayer asking the Lord to be with our loved ones and to guide us through the day.
The bus took us to visit: the shore of the Sea of Galilee at Tabgha (where Jesus performed he miracle of the miraculous catch of fish), the Mt. of Beautitudes, Chorazin, and Capernaum.
We had another awesome day, walking where Jesus walked and reading the Bible passages which corresponded to the sights, with the following questions in mind: 1) Why is the passage there? 2) Why do I need to know that? 3) Why do I need to know that now?
What really impressed us today is that in order to understand the New Testament, we must know the Old Testament. The Scriptures come alive when one stands at the shore of the Sea of Galilee, stand under an olive tree, or stands among the ruins of a synagogue in Capernaum. ~ Ria Talsma and Irene Prins
