On today's podcast, Rich hosts Matt Bach from Bridgeway Christian Church in northern California. His teaching focuses on one of his favorite sites in Israel, the Valley of Elah and the battle which happened there between David and Goliath (I Samuel 17). A young David exemplifies what it means to depend not on our size, strength, ability or knowledge but on the power of an Almighty God. Matt leaves us with the question, "Where is the power in my life?"

Israeli guide Ronen gives us an archaeological update on the Western wall, specifically the renovations being made at the southern end at Robinson's Arch.

Matt Bach the Pastor of Christian Development at Bridgeway Christian Church in Roseville, California. He is married with three children. He studied OT Theology in Briarcrest Bible College, holds a Masters in Theology from Fuller Seminary and is in his PhD studies in Biblical Studies through Trinity College Bristol (partnered with Univ. of Aberdeen) in England. Matt also teaches The Hebrew Bible (OT Survey) at William Jessup University as an Adjunct Faculty. He has been leading tours to Israel with GTI since 2015.

Azekah

Azekah (Heb: עזקה, ʿazeqah) was a town in the Shephelah guarding the upper reaches of the Valley of Elah, about 26 km (16 mi) northwest of Hebron. The current tell (ruin) by that name has been identified with the biblical Azekah, dating back to the Canaanite period. According to Eusebius' Onomasticon, the name meant "white" in the Canaanite tongue. The tell is pear shaped with the tip pointing northward. Due to its location in the Elah Valley it functioned as one of the main Judahite border cities, sitting on the boundary between the lower and higher Shephelah.[1] Although listed in Joshua 15:35 as being a city in the plain, it is actually partly in the hill country, partly in the plain.
