Now that our study tour is complete, hopefully you’ll be able to talk to one of us in person about what we saw, heard, learned, and experienced!
Below is a wrap up video that serves as a nice summary of the trip and a reminder of all that we did.

We made it! Our last day in Israel was bittersweet to say the least. Throughout the past ten days we have become a family—many of us started out as strangers but the friendships we have formed will last a lifetime.
We began the day at the Mt. of Olives. All of us were a little cold and groggy but being on the mountaintop staring out over the entire city of Jerusalem with the golden Dome of the Rock and the temple mount in the distance. On top of the mountain is a huge cemetery—but huge doesn’t actually give justice to the enormity of this cemetery. It costs an astounding $70,000 to be buried there, which is why only the extremely wealthy are buried there; however, it’s free to be buried at any other place in Israel. Jesus spent many hours in prayer with His Father on the Mountain and the words He spoke thousands of words ago took on a new meaning as we stood on top of the mountain.

As I sit here and reflect on day 6 of this amazing journey through Israel, I keep coming back to the same conclusion that this trip has surpassed my expectations in ways I can’t begin to articulate. Prior to coming I thought to myself, “how is it going to be studying the bible all day every day for 7 days?” Without hesitation, I can say it has been fulfilling to a level I had never thought possible. As a mother, I am forever grateful to be able to share this experience with my daughter. Friendships have blossomed for the both of us, in as much as our relationship has been solidified and made stronger.

We started out in Bet She’an, which in today’s world is a tel (an artificial hill) reminiscent of the previous 19 civilizations that were built on the location. A cultural and economic hub in Biblical times because of its location at the crossroads of the north-south and east-west highways of the period, Bet She’an is best known for being the place Saul’s body was taken by the Philistines after he gave up hope and fell on his own sword. Ronan, the greatest tour guide on this side of the Mediterranean, described to us the devastating battle and defeat the Israelites had faced leading up to Saul’s forfeit of the game. Our group was then walked over the tel, and to our surprise we were greeted by the elaborate ruins of the ancient Greek-then-Roman city of Schytopolis.

We have transitioned from traveling through solely the Old Testament, to walking in the footsteps of our Lord, Jesus Christ. In the morning, the winds howled and rushed through our hair as we headed out to the Sea of Galilee. The Spirit of the Lord overwhelmed us as we worshipped on the lake where Jesus powerfully calmed the storm 2,000 years ago. Afterwards, we sat to hear the words of Pastor Gill and Mrs. Morales who explained to us the omnipotence in Jesus’ ability to calm the storm and how we can trust that He will take care of us. From this we ended our sea journey by dancing and singing a Hebrew song about joy that Ronen taught us. We took that joy with us to land as we visited a 2,000-year-old boat found on the Sea of Galilee before climbing up Mt. Arbel.

Today has been incredible! My eyes have been opened so much throughout the past couple days in Israel, every site we have visited and learned about has completely blown my mind! Ask anyone on this trip and they will say all I have said is “this is crazy!”, “this is insane!”, and “this is breath taking!” because those words truly describe every single place we have been to. I can already tell that this trip is truly life changing, and we are only half way through our journey!

Waking up to an incredible sunrise next to Dead Sea set the present for today’s explorations. After most of us got a good night of sleep, we were all geared up for our march to the top of Masada. Masada is one of the most astounding sights. What was once a stronghold and World Trade Center, now towers over the Dead Sea exemplifying its enormity to everyone.

Honestly, I had no idea what I was getting into. After hurriedly throwing clothes into my suitcase and navigating through breakfast, I climbed onto the bus, expecting a busy but somewhat boring day: we’d hike several miles and then sit for an hour listening to the tour guide drone on and on and on. I was very wrong, especially about the tour guide. His name is Ronen and you will hear about him a lot!

Friends and Family,
Greetings from Israel! We just made it safely after a 20 hour journey from LAX including two flights and a short stop in Istanbul. Our first flight lasted about 12 hours and included a very delicious dinner (yes, you read that correctly! Turkish Air has the best food!) and then we were off to sleep. Landing in Istanbul, we headed to our next gate to catch our final two-hour flight to Tel Aviv. We were greeted at the airport by our lovely driver who took us directly to our hotel. It is a little past midnight now and we are all settled in our hotel for the evening. Our spirits are high, eyelids are heavy and we are ready to catch some good sleep before our early morning wakeup call and first full day! Thank you for your support and prayers, we are excited to share this journey with you.

Our trip to Israel will be here before you know it!
Once we’re on the ground in Israel, we’ll post periodic updates and photos. Check back often or get update notifications using the subscribe options on this page.
We’ll be sharing our travel experiences online with you, our friends and family, to not only bring you along on the journey with us, but to also solicit your ongoing prayer and support. Most of us on this trip have been preparing mentally and spiritually for what will be a life-changing experience in the land. We’re also preparing physically as we train our bodies to handle all the time we’ll spend on our feet walking. So please pray that we would be diligent in our preparations and we would all be ready to learn what God has to teach us!
