Wittenberg

We spent a cloudy day in Wittenberg after a short bus ride from Erfurt. We saw the Castle-Church ( under much scaffolding and construction) and visited the Town-Church (also under construction). We saw the place- not the actual door- where Martin Luther nailed (posted) his 95 Theses to the Castle Church. He wanted to challenge discussion regarding the truth of the Bible and the practices of the Roman Catholic Church. It was never his intent to cause strife/division in the Catholic Church. He just wanted to get to the truth of scripture and make it available to all. It was here that Luther lived and preached beginning the Protestant Reformation.

The town of Wittenberg is pleasant and not a commercial town. It resounds of the times of old and is a wonderful place to remember and reflect on the way and sacrifices of those saints and fellow priests who so long ago took a critical stand for truth.

Thought for the day: How reasonably do I reason from the scriptures?
