The hustle and bustle

Abba, Thank you for this amazing journey! Not just today but this entire week. My heart, soul and spirit are so moved and overwhelmed with the depth of details that I am learning.

Today we again started the day at the edge of The Sea of Galilee, Matthew 5, Blessed am I as I realize I am poor in spirit and need you. Pastor Ryan reminded us that we can come to You in confidence prayer, or Hutzva as our Israeli friend and guide, Ronan would say.

The places we saw and the things that most captivated my heart today, wow, were do I begin.

Beth She’an – so many things from the stories of Saul’s death as well as his sons, the disgraceful way the Philistine’s showed their victory. Though Saul had not done a lot of things as a King should have, there were the people of Jabesh-gilead who still choose to honor and respect he and his sons and show Mercy. Such a great reminder that mercy given, will be mercy received when I need it most.

Beth Shean

Located 17 miles (27 km) south of the Sea of Galilee, Beth Shean is situated at the strategic junction of the Harod and Jordan Valleys. The fertility of the land and the abundance of water led the Jewish sages to say, “If the Garden of Eden is in the land of Israel, then its gate is Beth Shean.” It is no surprise then that the site has been almost continuously settled from the Chalcolithic period to the present.

Around the corner and down the street we got to see the big city and walk through it. I was really not surprised to hear from Sam that Jesus never did go into this city. He didn’t need to go to the hustle and bustle of the movers and shakers, but rather, as He always does, relating one on one with us. I am so grateful for every person that God has put on this journey and am enjoying getting to know each of them better.

We were able to experience Tel Jezreel, Megiddo, Mt Carmel and Caesarea!

This journey has given me so much more in depth and truths, the hikes daily have been challenging and exciting, the teachings – priceless, the closeness of Your heart Abba has taken my breathe away and now we have entered Jerusalem, Be still my heart.

I can’t wait to share the personal stories with all of you soon,

Shalom,

Linda Carlyle

Megiddo

From the earliest times (EB) to the earliest historical records of the area (Thutmose III) to the future (Revelation 16), Megiddo assumes a prominent role. This is largely owing to its strategic location astride the Megiddo Pass (Wadi Ara) and inside the busy Jezreel Valley.

Caesarea Maritima

The city and harbor were built under Herod the Great during c. 22–10 BC near the site of a former Phoenician naval station known as Stratonos pyrgos (Στράτωνος πύργος).[2] It later became the provincial capital of Roman Judea, Roman Syria Palaestina and Byzantine Palaestina Prima provinces. The city was populated throughout the 1st to 6th centuries CE and became an important early center of Christianity during the Byzantine period, but was mostly abandoned following the Muslim conquest of 640. It was re-fortified by the Crusaders, and finally slighted by the Mamluks in 1265.
