Daniel Kayes Thomson describes himself as “husband to a wonderful wife and father of seven amazing children.” He has served as a rabbi in northern Michigan since 1996, but his travels to various countries have included audiences which are Jewish, Christian and secularists. He has also served as a radio host, science lecturer and Israel tour leader. In 1998, he founded the JewishEyes “Prison In-Reach”™ program, where in-house weekly classes using visitation, video and audio learning materials are being attended by a growing number of inmates to seeking to rebuild their lives.
Although R’ Thomson received orthodox rabbinic training through a Jerusalem based yeshiva under the supervision of Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, the former Chief Rabbi of Israel and other rabbis in the United States, his rabbinic recognition came from outside of the world of Orthodox Judaism because of his belief that Y’shua is the Jewish Messiah. His rabbinic learning has uniquely equipped him to understand the Bible’s Jewish writers, language, customs, traditions, geography and history. R’ Thomson’s work puts the Scriptures back into their original Jewish contexts, and as he teaches, he reveals a great deal about the Bible which is often missed by others. He continues to further his rabbinic studies both in the United States and in Israel.
